Compassion Ministry

The Compassion Ministry’s purpose is to show compassion by coordinating practical assistance to those in need within our congregation.

God calls us, as a church family, to support and care for one another. This is clear throughout scripture. In particular, the following passages are at the heart of the Compassion Ministry.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:34-35 (NIV)

“Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous.” – 1 Peter 3:8 (NKJ)

How amazing it is that we don’t have to figure out how we’re to love one another. Christ’s compassion is so great that he gave himself in whole for us; the perfect example. However, He not only gives us an example but a command, to love our fellow believers just as He loves us. As we strive to follow His example, we aim to help others see Christ, to facilitate open hearts to Him, and ultimately to glorify God.

1 Peter 3: 8 shapes our actions in response to our church body’s needs. We respond with practical assistance. Practical assistance is manifest in many ways. It is a meal for a new mom and dad, correspondence to encourage or to just say hello. Practical assistance can be a visit to someone who is homebound or ill, as well as other appropriate support. It is having compassion for one another.

Please let us know that you’re interested in taking care of one another. We’re asking for those of you who are willing to be available to offer this kind of support when needs arise to please call or email the church office.

Also, please keep in mind that we cannot offer any of these wonderful things if we don’t know there’s an opportunity to do so. So, we’re asking anyone within our church body who could use a little help, or who knows anyone within our church who could use help to contact the church office.
